Let's share an example of why, for an unnamed user, they went to the bank rather than reaching out for support and disputed the subscription charges.
As authors, we pass off running of the process to Stripe and Substack, but we still own the responsibility and risk. In this case, they had a $5.99 monthly subscription and disputed the charge with the bank. I accepted the dispute as I didn't see anything to support their canceling it, but I didn't want to incur any additional fees in disputing it. Whether they were right or wrong, as an author, we are imposed a $15 fee just because we are involved in a dispute.
